ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
Weather Situation: A slow-moving tropical low is slowly moving westwards over the far southeast of the NT, before moving south into South Australia over the weekend. Rich tropical moisture surrounding this system is bringing a risk of heavy to locally intense rainfall.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for the far southeastern part of the Barkly district and eastern parts of the Simpson district. Rainfall expected to spread to the southwest across far southern parts of the Simpson district today. Six hour rainfall totals between 50 and 80 mm are possible. 24 hour rainfall totals between 80 and 130 mm are likely, with isolated totals to 200 mm possible.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is possible with slow-moving lines of thunderstorms over the eastern Simpson district. Six hour rainfall totals of around 110 mm are possible.
These conditions also threaten cattle and other livestock.
Conditions are finally expected to ease across the southeast Northern Territory during Saturday evening.
Locations which may be affected include Jervois, Kulgera, Finke and Simpson District east of Finke.
