ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
Weather Situation: A slow-moving tropical low is situated over the far southeast of the NT and is expected to move slowly westwards through the remainder of this evening and Friday. Rich tropical moisture surrounding this system is continuing to bring a risk of heavy rainfall.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for eastern parts of the Simpson district, spreading west across the far southern NT on Friday. Six hour rainfall totals between 50 and 80 mm are possible. 24 hour rainfall totals between 60 and 100 mm are likely, with isolated totals to 130 mm possible.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is also possible with slow-moving lines of thunderstorms overnight and into Friday morning over the far east of the Simpson district. Six hour rainfall totals of around 110 mm are possible.
These conditions also threaten cattle and other livestock.
Locations which may be affected include Jervois, Kulgera, Finke and Simpson District east of Finke.
