Australian football sensation, Alex Badolato, has been crowned the AFC Youth Player of the Year (Men), becoming the first Australian ever to receive the prestigious honour. The announcement was made at the annual AFC Awards held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening.
The AFC Youth Player of the Year award recognises the most outstanding young footballer across Asia, Badolato's selection follows a breakout year that saw him named Best Player at the 2025 AFC U-20 Asian Cup, where he led Australia to victory with his creativity, composure, and attacking flair.
Currently playing as an attacking midfielder for the Newcastle Jets in the A-League, Badolato has earned praise for his vision, technical skill, and ability to influence games. His recent appearance at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile 2025 further showcased his ability to perform on the global stage. His performances for both club and country have marked him as one of the most exciting talents to watch.
