Band member injured after firecracker thrown on stage- South West Rocks, NSW

A band member has been injured after a firecracker was thrown onto the stage at South West Rocks on the state’s Mid North Coast last night, NSW Police say.

About 10.30pm yesterday, the band was playing at a licensed club on Sportsman Way, when a lit firecracker was thrown onto the stage.

On noticing the firecracker, the man attempted to extinguish the wick with his foot; however, the ‘bunger’ exploded, burning a hole in his shoe.

The man sustained superficial burns to his foot and was treated at the scene. He was later taken to Kempsey District Hospital for further treatment.

Police were patrolling the club at the time of incident and spoke to a number of people and investigations are continuing.
