Basic administration failures put patient wellbeing at risk

Tasmanian Labor
  • Shortcomings in management of specialists at Tasmania's four major hospitals
  • Patient outcomes put at risk
  • Revelations no surprise for a system in crisis
  • Another day and another terrible report about the state of Tasmania's health system under Will Hodgman's Government.

Shadow Health Minister Sarah Lovell said the report of the Auditor General released today reveals significant problems with the way specialist doctors are rostered within our public hospitals.

"Alarmingly, Auditor General Rod Whitehead said current practices have the potential to put at risk patient safety, hospital accreditation and staff wellbeing.

"It's unlikely anyone in the community is surprised by these new revelations of problems in our public health system.

"And if Sarah Courtney and Will Hodgman have been genuinely focused on our hospitals, like they say they have been, nothing in this report will be a surprise to them."
