Basketball Court Gets Makeover With Winning Artwork

Basketballers will be able to enjoy a newly refreshed Marabou Park half-court at Annandale in a net positive for the community.

The much-loved recreation area has been made over with a competition-winning design by Townsville resident Matteese Hodgetts to add vibrancy to the community space on Yolanda Drive.

Divisional councillor Suzy Batkovic said the initiative was a collaborative effort between Council and Townsville's arts and sports communities.

"The Marabou Park half-court was looking tired and was ready for a refresh," Cr Batkovic said.

"Council put a call out to Townsville artists to submit their designs for Marabou Park to beautify the space, and our local artists certainly delivered. Matteese's winning artwork was selected for its vibrancy and connection with nature.

"This initiative has helped beautify the area, giving residents another place to get outside with their friends and family and enjoy the scenery."
