Bass Coast Council 2026 Traineeship Apps Open

With ATAR results in and summer in full swing, many young people are enjoying a well-earned break while starting to think about their next steps. Why not start your career close to home? Or are you returning to the workforce in 2026? Bass Coast Shire Council's Traineeship Program is back for 2026, offering exciting opportunities to gain real-world experience, qualifications, and the foundation for a successful career.

Throughout its Traineeship Program, Council has offered 114 positions across a wide range of disciplines, with around 50 per cent of participants transitioning to permanent roles. Following the 2025 intake, 6 full time trainees are already progressing toward completing their programs.

Each Trainee will tackle real-world projects, work with systems and processes, and engage directly with customers and community members. Explore different pathways, gain credible experience, build connections, make friends, and gain an industry recognised Certificate III in Business. All while benefiting from Council's flexible working arrangements and access to internal career opportunities.

The 2026 intake will offer 7 diverse roles, including an exciting new role in Financial Services. This opportunity provides hands-on experience across key areas such as purchasing, finance, rates, and contract management.

What's on Offer for 2026

Applications for the 2026 Traineeship Program are now open and close on 26 January 2026. Successful applicants will commence in March, receiving structured training and support, flexible work arrangements, and pathways to internal opportunities.
