Bass Hill Kidnapping Probe Launched by Crime Squad

Robbery & Serious Crime Squad detectives are investigating the alleged kidnapping of a man from Bass Hill earlier this week.

About 10.30pm on Tuesday (5 May 2026), officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command were called to Coraki Road in Bass Hill following reports of a shooting.

It was established a group of unknown men had approached a 43-year-old man as he was getting out of his car at the address.

One of the unknown men discharged a firearm as they allegedly detained the 43-year-old and forced him into a vehicle before fleeing the scene.

The matter was referred to State Crime Command's Robbery & Serious Crime Squad who commenced immediate inquires under Strike Force Leaquin to safely recover the victim.

About 10.45am today (Thursday 7 May 2026), it was established the man had been released.

He has been taken to hospital for treatment.
