Batchelor Emergency Demountables Removal Begins

NT Government

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure has commenced the removal of the demountable structures in the Batchelor township, following the repatriation of residents from Palumpa and Nauiyu/Daly River to their communities.

The demountables were stood up in March 2026 as part of the Northern Territory Government's emergency response to the flooding of the Palumpa and Nauiyu/Daly River communities.

The sites at Batchelor Outdoor Education Centre and Batchelor Institute Indigenous Tertiary Education provided a stable environment for families.

Work commenced to remove the demountable at the Batchelor Institute on Thursday July 9.

The demountables at the Batchelor Health Clinic will be removed from Friday July 10.

The demountables at the Batchelor Outdoor Education Centre will be removed throughout July.

Following the removal of the demountables, the sites will be rehabilitated. The rehabilitation includes lawn remediation, road repairs and removal of plumbing and electrical services.
