Baw Baw Shire Council invited the community to attend an Open Community Briefing on issues surrounding flood mapping in Baw Baw Shire yesterday afternoon.
The Open Community Briefing included a presentation from Council's Planning Department, before Councillors opened the session to hear submissions from the 17 community members in attendance.
The session facilitated robust discussion between Councillors, Council Officers, and the community. This open Community Briefing marks the first in a series of community briefings to encourage more community engagement on a variety of topics of interest to Shire residents.
Baw Baw Shire Mayor, Cr Danny Goss, commented on the session, "Today was a great opportunity for us to open the doors and engage the community in the first of what will become a regular series of briefings. Council is committed to hosting open community briefings on topics of community interest and significance."
"These sessions are about being transparent and engaging with our community, and we hope to do more over the coming weeks and months," he said.
Following the Open Community Briefing, Council will continue to progress discussions with relevant stakeholders regarding flood mapping work, with the matter set to return to a future Council briefing.
