Detectives from Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch have closed an operation targeting the alleged trafficking of illicit drugs in the district.
Operation Uniform Sandri began in September 2022 and over the past 12 months has identified a number of people allegedly involved in the trafficking of heroin and methylamphetamines.
Part of the operation's closure incorporated the execution of several search warrants at properties including Birkdale and Alexandra Hills yesterday, August 29.
It has resulted in a total of 28 people with 420 charges, including 12 of those people being charged with drug trafficking.
"This protracted investigation has successfully targeted a network of criminals who were distributing dangerous drugs throughout the region and causing considerable harm and concern to the community". Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Mooney said.
"These arrests, which are the culmination of more than 12 months of hard work, demonstrate our commitment to working with the community to disrupt criminal networks and maintain focus on the safety of our community in Queensland".
Charges breakdown:
A 29-year-old Victoria Point man has been charged with 22 offences including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and 17 counts of supply dangerous drugs.
A 52-year-old Birkdale man has been charged with 41 offences including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and 37 counts of supply dangerous drugs.
A 40-year-old Birkdale woman has been charged with 41 offences including three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 32 counts of supply dangerous drugs.
A 40-year-old Birkdale woman has been charged with 41 offences including two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 34 counts of supply dangerous drugs.
A 35-year-old Birkdale man has been charged with 47 offences including two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 31 counts of supply dangerous drugs.
A 36-year-old Birkdale man has been charged with 25 offences including two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 21 counts of supplying dangerous drugs.
A 47-year-old Birkdale woman has been charged with 26 offences including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and 24 counts of supply dangerous drugs.
A 30-year-old Birkdale woman has been charged with 16 offences including two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 12 counts of supply dangerous drugs.
A 42-year-old Alexandra Hills woman has been charged with 48 offences including three counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, 31 counts of supply dangerous drugs, and one count of possess proceeds used in a crime.
A 33-year-old Alexandra Hills woman has been charged with 16 offences including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and eight counts of supply dangerous drugs.
All ten people have had police bail refused and are expected to appear before the Cleveland Magistrates Court today, August 30.
