Bayside Says No To Domestic Violence 5 December

The Botany Bay foreshore turned orange as the Bayside community turned out in force to support Council's Walk Against Domestic and Family Violence on Friday 5 December.

Councillors, Federal and State MPs, community groups, local schools and members of the St George Police Area Command joined the 1.5km foreshore walk from Ramsgate Life Saving Club to Depena Reserve.

The walk ended with a community sausage sizzle and the opportunity to hear from advocates who shared their stories and expertise.

Bayside Council is committed to preventing family and domestic violence and promoting gender equality.

Council works with key partners including NSW Police, Bay City Care, Bayside Women's Shelter, Advance Diversity Services, Sydney Multicultural Services, South Eastern Community Connect and other local groups and services to help combat family and domestic violence.

1800RESPECT is available for free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support people impacted by domestic, family or sexual violence.

Mayor Edward McDougall said

"I am proud that Council continues to support this important cause to create a safer community for everyone and I would like to thank everyone who stepped up to take a stand against family and domestic violence," Mayor McDougall said.
