The Palaszczuk Government is urging Queenslanders to help build a bold vision for how our iconic agribusiness and food sector can grow and function in the years ahead.
Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries Mark Furner said the sector was on the cusp of a wave of innovation driven by growing demand for food and fibre, digital revolution, and the need to address the climate change challenge.
"The sector already has a culture of adapting and exploring new ways of working to remain productive and profitable," Mr Furner said.
"Turning these challenges into opportunities will leave a legacy that is integral to the success of Queensland in the coming decades.
"The Growing for Queensland discussion paper will spark conversations about how we use new ways of thinking to grow a trusted, profitable and sustainable agribusiness and food sector."
Mr Furner said that from today Queenslanders could contribute to a new vision for our food and fibre industry.
"Your input will help us develop a five-year strategy to set us up for the future," Mr Furner said.
"We will identify opportunities for growth and development that will secure a resilient future for our people and communities, wherever they are in Queensland.
"Whether you're a producer, part of the supply chain, a foodie, or an interested community member, we want to talk with you about your experiences and ideas.
"You can join the conversation by visiting our online Engagement Hub; participating in polls and contributing your thoughts and ideas.
"We will listen to your input and provide feedback on how it has contributed to the development of the final industry development strategy."
The Discussion Paper will remain open until August 31.
