  • The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will reopen Beachmere Road to all motorists on Saturday 9 March 2024.
  • During the temporary road closure, the area experienced a further 227mm of rainfall over a 16-day period.
  • Traffic management, including single-lane closures and reduced speed limits, will remain in place to allow works to continue on the Caboolture-Beachmere Road safety improvements project.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will reopen Beachmere Road to all motorists on Saturday 9 March 2024 following a temporary closure caused by heavy rain in late January.

The rainfall event on 29 and 30 January 2024 impacted several local and state-controlled roads in the Moreton Bay region, including Beachmere Road. A section of Beachmere Road, between Hickey Road and Adcock Road was temporarily closed to allow the road pavement to dry out and for TMR to carry out necessary repairs. During the closure, TMR conducted dewatering activities, pavement works, installation of new culverts, repairs to scoured areas, excavations and other repair works to the damaged section of the road.

Traffic management, including single-lane closures and reduced speed limits, will remain in place to allow works to continue on the Caboolture-Beachmere Road safety improvements project.

Quotes attributable to the Transport and Main Roads Minister Bart Mellish:

"The temporary closure allowed our contractor to identify and deliver the best option to reopen the road safely, as soon as possible.

"We are pleased to reopen Beachmere Road and will continue to deliver the important safety improvements to enhance overall driving conditions along the road.

"The alternate route via Peel Road will remain an option for motorists. The traffic management provisions implemented on Peel Road during the Beachmere Road closure will remain in place to ensure minimal impact to residents and businesses in the area.

"As always, road safety is TMR's top priority and all road users are encouraged to drive to the weather and road conditions, obeying traffic signs and signals at all times."

Quotes attributable to Member for Pumicestone, Ali King
