The Beaudesert Showgrounds upgrade project is now complete, with the opening of the recently refurbished grandstand, installation of new lighting, LED signboard and expanded amenities for campers this week.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Barnaby Joyce said the Australian Government committed $250,000 to fund the project.
"The Australian Government's support for Beaudesert Showgrounds upgrade, centred on refurbishing the existing grandstand and nearby fine arts pavilion, will benefit the community, sporting groups and visitors alike," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
"Nationwide, the Australian Government is investing in this type of much-needed infrastructure that promotes stable, secure and viable local and regional economies.
"Whether it's investing in new sporting facilities, upgrading community centres or delivering other community infrastructure projects, we are committed to contributing to local economies, creating jobs and boosting confidence in our regions."
Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport and Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz attended the official opening and said the Beaudesert Showgrounds upgrade will provide residents and community groups with a fantastic gathering place.
"I love the show circuit, I am deeply disappointed to see the impacts of COVID-19 on our local shows, but it is great to see this newly upgraded infrastructure in place for 2022 when shows such as the Beaudesert Show will come back bigger and better.
"I am proud of our partnership with the Beaudesert Show Society and thank President Ian Harrison and his entire committee for the work they are doing.
"This support was part of our commitment to supporting regional towns at the last election and it has funded works to improve events, shows and tourism with new lighting, shade shelters, an LED showground signage board.
"These upgrades will make the town and the showgrounds a more attractive place for visitors, especially caravaners with upgraded amenities such as the portable waste point," Assistant Minister Buchholz said.
The Beaudesert Showground project was jointly funded, with the Australian Government committing $250,000 and the Beaudesert Show Society $16,475.
