International students who have a passion for living and working in the Northern Territory are being sought for the Study NT Student Ambassador Program in 2026.

Minister for International Education, Migration and Population, Robyn Cahill, said as an ambassador, students will promote the Northern Territory as a study destination of choice.

Throughout the year, Ambassadors will undertake professional development opportunities and participate in events and activities to promote the Northern Territory as a premier study destination.

"As part of the Finocchiaro CLP Government's Rebuilding the Economy Strategy, we are focused on making the Territory the best place to study, work and live.

"Growing the international education sector and bringing more international students to the Territory is key to driving growth and diversifying our economy.

"International students bring energy, talent and diversity to the Territory - strengthening our workforce, sparking innovation and building vibrant cultural connections.

"I encourage all international students to apply for the 2026 Student Ambassador Program - a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, represent the international student community, and showcase the value they bring to the Northern Territory," Ms Cahill said.

As of June 2025, there are 4,350 international students from over 70 nationalities enrolled to study with the Territory's quality education and training providers, contributing to the Territory's multicultural community and its economic growth.

Analysis undertaken by Deloitte shows, in 2023, each student contributed an average of $41,841 to the NT economy.

Amina Salha, 2025 Student Ambassador, said, "The Study NT Student Ambassador Program is more than just a title-it is a platform that brings together passionate students who want to share their experiences of studying, living, and working in the Northern Territory."

"For me, it has been a highlight of my journey, showcasing the incredible opportunities that exist right here in this city: excellent education, meaningful work experience, supportive and passionate people, and a serene environment that offers a truly balanced lifestyle."

"From world-class learning to easy commutes and the beauty of beaches and oceans, the program reflects not just what the Territory offers, but also the confidence, growth, and voice it gives its ambassadors."

2026 marks the 10th year of the Study NT Student Ambassador Program. In that time, around 200 international students have participated in the program and helped raise the Northern Territory's international education profile.

The program recognises the power-of-word of mouth and has provided a platform for international students share their firsthand experiences studying in the Northern Territory with their peers and networks.

Next year's program will see Study NT select up to 20 international students studying in higher education, vocational education and training, schools and English language courses in the Northern Territory.

The program is open to international students studying in the Northern Territory who have demonstrated academic achievements, leadership, and excellence in their community.

Applications close Monday 24 November 2025.
