Bega Valley Unveils Final Public Policy Batch

Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking community feedback on 14 Council policies, in line with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1993.

CEO Anthony McMahon said the review was a good opportunity to make sure Council policies provide clear information about what the community can expect in their interactions with Council and the way decisions are made.

"While the review of some policies only require minor amendments, other policies will be supported by newly endorsed procedures," Mr McMahon said.

Submissions on these policies will be accepted from the community until Thursday 2 October.

If submissions are received during the public exhibition period, they will be presented back to Council with staff recommendations before the final policy is adopted.

Policies on public exhibition are:

  • Film and Video
  • Cultural diversity
  • Community Learning, Libraries and Education
  • Live, work, invest
  • Management of Asbestos and Silica
  • Contaminated land
  • Child safe organisation
  • Sustainable procurement and contracts
  • Information Technology
  • Access to Information
  • Interstate and overseas travel
  • Closed Circuit Television
  • Related party and Designated Persons disclosures
  • Data breach mandatory reporting.

These draft policies and the draft Code of Meeting Practice procedure are available for review on our Have Your Say webpage.
