Bendigo driver busted by unmarked police

The State Highway Patrol intercepted a man driving in Junortoun last night (17 August).

The police members were travelling on the McIvor Highway just before midnight when a blue Subaru sedan passed them at an alleged 160km/h in a 70km/h zone.

The driver, an 18-year-old Bendigo man was intercepted without incident.

He returned an alleged breath test of 0.128.

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1425.00

The P1 probationary driver is expected to be charged on summons with drink and drug driving offences, speed and driving at a speed dangerous.

Sergeant Paul Emmanouel from the State Highway Patrol said "our unit is making an impact on rural road trauma but clearly there is more work to be done."
