A man has been charged after a correctives officer was allegedly assaulted by a man in Sydney's north west last month
On Tuesday 28 July 2026, officers attached to Hawkesbury Police Area Command commenced inquiries into an alleged assault at a correctional facility in Berkshire Park.
Police were told a 55-year-old male corrections officer was allegedly assaulted by a 21-year-old male inmate, about 9am Saturday 25 July 2026.
The officer was treated at the scene for facial injuries before he was taken to hospital for further treatment.
Following inquiries, about 11am today (Tuesday 25 August 2026), detectives arrested a 21-year-old man at a home in Lloyd Street, Blacktown.
He was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to law enforcement officer reckless as to actual bodily harm.
The man was refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court the same day.
