Council is breaking ground on the first stage of Berridale Village Master Plan construction works before Christmas, with the design process underway for the future third stage of the ambitious project to transform the heart of the Snowies.
The multi-year Berridale Village Master Plan project has seen Council's projects team and the community Project Engagement Group working closely together to develop a positive and achievable vision for the future of the village, thanks to a grant awarded under the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Stage 1 – Design
The contractor is delivering integrated designs for the realignment of the creek through four new culvert crossings at Park Street, Myack Street, Bolton Street and Oliver Street to improve water-flow, drainage and to boost the town's resilience against future flooding.
Stage 2 – Construction works
Work on the project will get underway before Christmas 2025. Contractors will construct the new culverts at Park Street and Myack Street, and realign the creek channel between these two crossings.
All work is scheduled for completion in early 2026. Work hours will be from 7.30am to 5pm on weekdays, and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays only when necessary. No work will be performed on Sundays or public holidays.
Once complete, the creek realignment and culvert installations will provide Berridale with greater protection against serious flooding while preserving the appearance and functionality of a natural waterway. Designs for this stage of the project will also reduce the cost and frequency of ongoing creek maintenance.
Council looks forward to unveiling this major upgrade for one of our region's most iconic towns in early 2026. We thank the community for their understanding and cooperation while work is underway over the next several months.
