Victorians will soon have access to the biggest and cheapest free midday power offer in the country.
Minister D'Ambrosio today confirmed key details of the three free hours of power under Midday Power Saver.
From 1 October 2026, households on the plan will receive three hours of free electricity every day between 11am and 2pm - to spread the benefits of Victoria's abundant solar generation at its peak and when power is cheapest.
Victorian households are expected to benefit from prices significantly lower than those available interstate.
Victorians on the Midday Power Saver plan will have rates for power use outside the free period cheaper than those under the equivalent in SA, NSW and QLD - in every region, and by 12 per cent to 19 per cent on average.
Labor's generous savings plan means better value for Victorian families.
Households are estimated to save between $149 and $1,102 per year depending on how much power use they shift to the midday period.
The Midday Power Saver will help households reduce their bills by shifting everyday energy use like running dishwashers, washing machines and charging devices to the free period.
Victoria's Midday Power Saver will also be the biggest offer in the country with 2.6 million households eligible, compared to 2.4 million in other states combined.
Victorians on the Victorian Default Offer (VDO) are also better off, with the 2026-27 VDO $444 cheaper for households and $1,299 cheaper for small businesses than the average Default Market Offer in NSW, Queensland and South Australia.
