Rockhampton Regional Council recognises the tireless work of their volunteers during National Volunteers Week 2022.

Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said this year's theme, 'Better Together' really captures the essence of the meaning behind volunteering.

"It is true what they say - volunteering brings people together; it builds communities and creates a better society for everyone," Cr Wickerson said.

"They are such an important fabric in our community and Council is very fortunate to have such a dedicated team of volunteers across the organisation.

"Whether it is proudly showing off our Heritage Village, or welcoming our visitors the Pilbeam Theatre and the Rockhampton Museum of Art, to caring for our animals and plants at the Zoo and Botanic Gardens, there is just so much we should thank them for.

"And it is not just across Council – volunteers' staff our canteens, support our youth - they are fundraising champions, sports coaches, SES heroes and much more!

"Where would we be without them?

"Here at Council, we simply wouldn't be able to offer the same standard of service to our residents and visitors without them.
