Big plans for Small Street

The Small Street, Hampton placemaking initiative will turn a dead end into a destination, with accessible timber decking, outdoor seating, planter boxes and vibrant painted stencilled footpaths. Planter boxes will provide greenery and the potential to incorporate an edible garden in the future.

This project at the eastern (train line) end of Small Street complements the existing bronze sculpture trail, mosaics, and community stories reflecting on the history of the area engraved into the footpath along Hampton Street, with a design honouring Bayside's mid-nineteenth-century market gardens.

Works will commence on Monday, 7 August 2023 and will take up to one week to install, weather permitting.
