Blairgowrie boat explosion investigation continues

Mornington Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released mobile phone vision as part of their ongoing investigation into a boat explosion in Blairgowrie on 26 January., Victoria Police say

Investigators have been told a man was seen swimming from one boat toward an unoccupied boat moored at the Blairgowrie Yacht Club about 3.45pm.

The man got onto the unoccupied boat, an explosion occurred and he jumped off into the water.

The man was collected from the water by a passing boat which then dropped him back to shore at Sorrento.

The fire was extinguished but police have been unable to locate the man, they have however spoken to the driver of the boat that took him to shore.

Detectives have released vision, taking from a passing boat, of a shirtless man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is described as Caucasian, aged 30-35-years-old, and had a shaved head with a sandy-coloured two day growth.

The man also had a number of tattoos, was wearing torn denim jeans and had a large cut to his head.

The exact circumstances surrounding the explosion are still unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
