Blueys Beach Design Adopted

MidCoast Council

MidCoast Council has adopted Option 1 of the Blueys Beach Village Concept Design after community consultation.

The design aims to improve the safety for pedestrians and motorists whilst preserving and enhancing the visual amenity of the area as a relaxed costal village.

Two concept designs were placed on public exhibition for community feedback.

During the consultation period, Council staff had 145 conversations at two drop-in events to discuss the plans. 121 formal submissions were received, and staff had multiple meetings with stakeholder groups.

Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Service, Rob Scott, thanked the community for their feedback.

"Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their ideas and feedback," Mr Scott said.

Feedback results showed that option one was preferred by 73% of people who selected an option.

Option one retains more parking spaces by locating pedestrian facilities in location that doesn't take up as many spaces as the other option. It was adopted by Council at its June 2026 meeting.

"We heard that pedestrian safety, parking and traffic speed were big concerns for people," said Mr Scott.

"The concept would make the area suitable for a high pedestrian activity speed zone in the future."

Council will consider other feedback themes like formal pedestrian crossings, timed parking and speed limits as part of the detailed design.

"This feedback was important as it will guide us while we get the project ready to build."

The project will progress as funding becomes available.
