BMX reaching new heights

Mayor of Hume City, Councillor Carly Moore joined Member for Sunbury, Josh Bull MP at the site of the new pavilion for the skate, scooter and BMX community in Sunbury which is due to be complete in early 2020.

"Sport and Recreation Victoria contributed $100,000 to Hume City Council's $873,500, resulting in a significant investment in the new Sunbury Skate, scooter and BMX pavilion," Cr Moore said.

"The new pavilion will provide a great new facility for local BMX participants, who currently use very modest infrastructure.

"The works also complement the recently completed upgrades to the Sunbury Skate Park.

"BMX is one of many emerging sports growing in popularity and Council is particularly pleased to deliver new facilities to help support and encourage participation in this exciting and entertaining activity.

The new pavilion will include:

  • ·viewing deck
  • social room
  • male and female change facilities
  • accessible changeroom
  • kitchen plus external/internal serveries
  • first aid room
  • office space; and
  • additional storage space.

Cr Moore said the modular system used to construct the new pavilion allows us to provide facilities with much needed amenity to local sporting clubs far quicker and with less disruption compared to other construction methods.

"Spectators will enjoy a whole new level of comfort with the addition of the viewing deck, social rooms and kitchen with duel serveries and participants will no doubt appreciate the amenity of the change rooms and administration space," Cr Moore said.
