The Albanese Government has made the following appointments and reappointments to the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC).
Ms Julie‑Anne Schafer has been reappointed as the part‑time Chair and member until July 2030.
Part Time members, Ms Eilis Hurley, Ms Fran Raymond and Mr Greg Nucifora have also been reappointed until July 2030 and Ms Evelyn Horton has been reappointed until July 2028
Mr Guy Thorburn has been reappointed as part‑time observer until 25 July 2028.
There are two new appointments with Mr Kent Griffin and Mr Robert McLean becoming part‑time members until July 2028.
Mr Griffin is a current director of Hume Bank and has previously been a director and Co‑Chair at the Council of Australian Life Insurers. He has held Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer positions at MLC Insurance and TAL. Mr Griffin is a Graduate of the AICD, a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary, and a Fellow of the Institute of Australian Actuaries.
Mr McLean is the current general manager and head of finance for the National Injury Insurance Agency Queensland and Motor Accident Insurance Commission Queensland. He has more than 20 years' experience in insurance. Mr McLean is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
The ARPC administers the terrorism reinsurance pool and the cyclone reinsurance pool under the Terrorism and Cyclone Insurance Act 2003. The Board is the ARPC Accountable Authority and retains accountability for the overall governance of the ARPC.
These appointments and reappointments will continue the high level of skills and experience available to the ARPC, to help ensure Australian communities are protected with sustainable and effective reinsurance for terrorism and cyclone events.
