Council is delighted to announce that 35 local Snowy Monaro community groups will receive grant funding from the Boco Rock Community Enhancement Fund in 2025, sharing in a total funding pool of more than $280,000.
This year's funding will support a diverse range of projects, events, and institutions that enhance community life across the Snowy Monaro. From clubs, to fire stations and community halls, this year's grant recipients represent the grassroots organisations that make our region's communities so great.
Among the recipients, the community-driven Currawarna Assisted Living facility in Bombala has been awarded $50,000 for a new solar power installation. The grant-funded tech will help keep costs down for community members in need and their families, while helping the facility's community operators to maintain a sustainable service into the future.
In Nimmitabel, a new cricket pitch, showground kitchen upgrades, community facility repairs, new events, historic site operating costs, and new playground equipment are among the more than a dozen successful applications from the town this year.
The Boco Rock Community Enhancement Fund was established as part of the NSW Government's approval for the Boco Rock Wind Farm project. Each year, a portion of the wind farm's revenue is set aside by the windfarm's operators, TILT Renewables, to support local community initiatives to ensure the renewable energy project directly benefits the Snowy Monaro community.
The Boco Rock Community Enhancement Fund Committee, made up of community members, councillors and TILT Renewables, assesses applications against a comprehensive set of assessment criteria to determine the donations.
The next round of Boco Rock Community Enhancement Fund grants opens for applications in the first half of 2026. Community groups are encouraged to start planning their applications now to give their projects the best chance of success.
