Bodies Found in River After Car Plunge Near Wisemans Ferry

Two bodies have been located during a search after a car crashed into a river near Wisemans Ferry overnight.

About 11.50pm yesterday (Wednesday 21 August 2025), emergency services were called to the Macdonald River, near Settlers Road, St Albans about 20km north of Wisemans Ferry, following reports a car had entered the river.

Officers attached to Hawkesbury Police Area Command attended and found that a car had crashed into the river before one occupant exited the vehicle and reached the riverbank.

That occupant – a 24-year-old man – was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, did not require any further treatment.

Police were told two other men were in the vehicle at the time.

Emergency services – State Emergency Service (SES) and NSW Rural Fire Service – commenced a search of the area for the two men.

About 11.20am today (Thursday 21 August 2025) NSW Police Divers located a vehicle in waters nearby.

A further search resulted in Police Divers locating two bodies in the water.

They are yet to be formally identified.
