Body Found In Search For Man Missing From Walgett

A body has been located during a search of a man missing from the state's north-west.

The 73-year-old man was last seen in Walgett, about 9.45pm on Friday 19 September 2025.

Officers attached to Central North Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

As a part of investigation, since Saturday 20 September 2025, officers attached to Central North Police District, with the assistance of Police Rescue, PolAior, SES, VRA Rescue NSW, and NSW Rural Fire Service, conducted an extensive search in Wlagett, Namoi River and surrounding areas.

Following inquiries, about 9.30am today (Monday 22 September 2025), police located the body of a man in Namoi River, near Marjorie Phyllis Walford Bridge.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing man.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
