Body located in search for missing man - Beresfield

A body, believed to be that of a man reported missing from Beresfield, has been located.

The 85-year-old man was last seen about 2pm on Monday 4 September 2023.

When he could not be contacted or located, officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Following extensive inquiries and a multi-agency search with assistance from Newcastle Police Rescue, NSW Police Divers, NSW SES, Westpac and the local community, the body of a man was located near Anderson Drive, Beresfield, about 12.30pm today (Wednesday 6 September 2023).

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing 85-year-old man.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
