Body of man located in floodwaters - Cobbity

The body of a man has been recovered from a vehicle submerged in floodwater in Sydney's south west today.

Emergency services were contacted about 7.55am (Friday 8 April 2022), after a man was reported missing and his van was located shortly after, trapped in nearby floodwater.

Officers attached to Camden Police Area Command, with assistance from PolAir, police divers and the NSW State Emergency Service, commenced an operation and retrieved the body of the 68-year-old man just before 1pm today. He is yet to be formally identified.

The white van that the man was travelling in remains stuck in the floodwater and efforts to remove the vehicle continue.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death is underway and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
