Bomb hoax charges in Rockhampton, QLD

Rockhampton Detectives have charged two men following investigations into two alleged bomb hoaxes in the Rockhampton area on June 22., Queensland Police say>

It will be alleged a threatening phone call was made to staff at a business located in a shopping centre on Yaamba Road, Park Avenue between 8 and 9am.

The shopping centre was evacuated before police were able to determine the threats to be unsubstantiated.

At around 8pm on the same date, it will be alleged another threatening phone call was made to staff at a service station on Lower Dawson Road, Allenstown

Two Gracemere men aged 24 and a 22 have been charged with two counts each of bomb hoax and will appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.

Police would like to remind the public that making a bomb threat is a very serious offence and those convicted could face up to five years imprisonment.
