Construction and installation work on the brand-new sporting facilities at Bombala Showground is now complete – giving Bombala sporting clubs, athletes and locals who enjoy some fun in the sun more reason than usual to celebrate the coming of spring in 2025.
Co-funded by the Australian Government and NSW Government through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, this major local project has delivered new cricket, netball and spectator facilities for the Bombala community.
Line-marking of the new netball courts is the last job on the list before every piece of the new sporting infrastructure can open up to the public. Council will complete this final finishing touch as soon as temperatures are warm enough for the paint to dry.
Completed:
- ✓Accessible pathways and new showground driveway
- ✓New cricket nets
- ✓Installation of new tiered spectator seating
- ✓Netball court and parking area construction
Still to come later this spring:
- Netball court line-marking and full public opening
The new netball courts will be available for use part-way into the local competition season this year. Access to the parking/netball area will remain closed off until line-marking has been completed later this spring.
Line-marking work will also give Bombala residents the opportunity to get involved with the sport that's taking the world by storm, with new pickle ball courts marked out and game equipment available for hire.
Investigations into potential funding sources for additional upgrades and new facilities in Bombala are ongoing. Council will provide further updates as early work continues on a potential phase two for this exciting project.
