Bombardier CL-600-2B16 D-AAAY Incident, Aug 10, 2022

This statement provides an update on the AAIB investigation into a serious incident involving a Bombardier CL-600-2B16 (604) aircraft, D-AAAY, on 10 August 2022.

In the climb, after departing Farnborough Airport, D-AAAY had an uncommanded flap movement above the maximum flap extension speed during which the flaps moved to their fully extended position. The aircraft returned to Farnborough with the flaps extended where it landed without further incident.

During this investigation, the AAIB published two Special Bulletins in which four Safety Recommendations were made. Special Bulletin S2/2022 was published on 22 September 2022 and Special Bulletin S1/2023 on 2 March 2023.

The investigation is ongoing, and the final report will be published in due course.
