Bondi's Plea: Prayer, Peace, Unity at Futures Church

Futures Church

A statement from Futures Church – Ashley Evans, Senior Global Pastor.

What happened at Bondi Beach was evil. There's no other word for it.

Families gathered to celebrate Hanukkah. At one of Australia's most iconic places. They were attacked simply for being Jewish.

This is not who we are.

Let me be direct.

Antisemitism is evil. It has no place in Australia. No place in any community. No place in the human heart. Any hatred or violence toward the Jewish people—or any people—is an assault on the image of God in every person.

Futures Church stands with the Jewish community. Not with carefully worded sympathy. With conviction. With clarity. With love that refuses to stay silent.

This Sunday, all 21 Futures Church campuses worldwide will pause for a minute of silence and united prayer. We will honour the victims. We will weep with those who weep. We will ask God for comfort, healing, and peace.

We pray for our leaders to lead with wisdom. For our first responders who ran toward danger. And for our nation to choose love over fear, unity over division, and courage over silence.

In moments like these, people of faith don't just offer thoughts and prayers. We stand up. We speak clearly. We act with love.

That's what we're doing.
