Botany And Mascot Public Amenities Upgrade: Bayside

Council has completed a full refurbishment of the public toilet blocks in Botany and Mascot, which have now re-opened to the public.

The two amenity buildings received a full internal fitout including new sinks, toilets, mirrors, urinals, wall and floor tiles, electrical and plumbing upgrades.

The external walls were also finished with colourful murals adding vibrant colour and culture to the area.

Council's extensive Expression of Interest process for the murals attracted 40 applications with a judging panel selecting the two successful artists.

The Mascot mural features an aviation theme and was created by Christina Huynh, an illustrator and muralist, that paints under the name STYNA.

The Botany Mural was created by, Aurora Campbell, a mural artist and illustrator, who incorporated the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub in her dynamic mural.

The murals which have brightened up and revitalised the two buildings have also created an awareness for the value of public art in line with Council's Arts and Culture Strategy.
