Boy arrested after fleeing stolen vehicle in Werribee

Police have arrested a boy after he allegedly ran from a stolen vehicle in Werribee last night.

Officers were initially alerted to the sounds of vehicle burn-outs near Kookaburra Avenue when they noticed a silver Toyota Hilux driving in the area at high speed just before 11.30pm.

The Toyota allegedly failed to stop when officers attempted to intercept it on Tarneit Road, Hoppers Crossing.

The Air Wing then followed the vehicle to Budgie Court where it's alleged the driver dumped the vehicle and ran into parkland.

A 17-year-old Melton South boy was arrested nearby and is expected to be charged with theft of motor vehicle, handle stolen goods and various traffic offences.
