Boy charged after investigation into suspicious fire at Forbes

A boy has been charged for allegedly lighting a fire at a shopping complex in the state's Central West this week.

About 2.10am (Monday 28 December 2020), emergency services were called to a shopping complex on Rankin Street, Forbes, after reports of a fire.

The complex was unoccupied at the time and there have been no reports of injuries.

The blaze was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW; however, one business was completely destroyed and two were partially damaged.

Officers from Central West Police District attended and established a crime scene.

About 5.40pm yesterday (Tuesday 29 December 2020), a 16-year-old boy attended Parkes Police Station where he was arrested.

He was charged with damage property by fire, break and enter house steal value, break and enter house destroy property, in house steal and break out value and armed with intent commit indictable offence.

The boy was refused bail to appear at a childrens court today (Wednesday 30 December 2020).
