A child is in a critical condition after being struck by a car in Blackburn on Saturday night (18 Aug), Victoria Police say.
The boy was crossing Springfield Road at a crossing with two friends when he was hit shortly before 6.30pm.
He has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The other two children were not injured.
The male driver stopped at the scene and was arrested by police.
He is currently in custody, assisting police with their enquiries.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and urge any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
