Boy dies after all-terrain vehicle crash at West Wyalong

A boy has died after an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rolled on a private property in the state's south-west.

About 6pm on Saturday (20 March 2021), emergency services were called to Railway Street, West Wyalong, following reports a young boy had been injured in a crash involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

Police have been told the ATV was being driven by a 15-year-old boy, when it lost control and flipped, trapping the boy underneath.

Witnesses were able to free the 12-year-old boy and treat him until the arrival of paramedics. He was taken to west Wyalong hospital however, he died on arrival.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District attended and established a crime scene.

The Crash Investigation Unit will continue inquiries into the events leading up to the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
