Boy dies after being struck by truck, NSW

A three-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a truck in the Lake Macquarie region.

About 3.50pm today, a pantech truck was travelling south on Donnelley, Arcadia Vale, when it struck a three-year-old boy who was running across the road.

Police and Ambulance Paramedics attended. The boy was taken by ambulance to John Hunter Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The male driver of the truck was taken to John Hunter Hospital for a mandatory blood and urine sample. His age is not known at this stage, NSW Police say.

A crime scene has been established. Police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command are conducting inquiries into the incident.

A report has been prepared for the Coroner.
