Boy struck by car dies in hospital - Unanderra

A boy struck by a car south of Sydney earlier this week has died in hospital.

Emergency services were called to Waples Road, Unanderra, after reports a boy had been hit by a car about 8.35am on Wednesday (2 December 2020).

The ten-year-old was treated at the scene for critical head injuries before being airlifted to the Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick.

The driver of a Nissan Maxima, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory testing and later released.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Just before 11am today (Saturday 5 December 2020), the boy died in hospital.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
