Brace yourselves… the Mo’s are coming

Since 2011, QPS members have paid homage to the Mo throughout the month of Movember by meticulously grooming and crafting their upper lips or proclaiming their love of the Mo as a Mo Sista, Queensland Police say.

Movember is the annual campaign of the Movember Foundation where men and women across the globe join together to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.

In 2016, over 80 QPS members representing nine teams across the State have pledged their commitment to the Mo, all in the name of men’s health.

Leading the charge for the Springfield Staches, is Mo Sista Constable Rebecca Franklin.

"Springfield Station decided to get involved in Movember after our colleague was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year," Constable Franklin said.

"It was only by a chance conversation that our colleague had a check-up and found he had prostate cancer without experiencing any symptoms.

"Women are so proactive about their health, but men tend to neglect theirs and we hope that by participating in Movember we can increase awareness about the importance of men undergoing regular health checks and encourage them to take action."

The Springfield Staches has 16 members and aims to raise $1,000 throughout the month of November.
