Break and enter and assault, Woree

Police are appealing for community assistance to help identify a young male they wish to speak to in relation to a break in and assault in Woree on October 11.

Cairns detectives were called to a Girralong Street address about 8.30pm on Sunday after entry was forced into a Woree home.

The young male attempted to force his way into the home of an 87-year-old woman. The woman was assaulted before she managed to fight off the offender and raise the alarm.

The woman was not physically injured.

The male fled on foot into bushland behind Girralong Street.

He is described as aged around 12-14 years and approximately 163cm tall, with a slim build, black hair and light brown complexion.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark coloured beanie and no shirt.
