Break And Enter Charges At Mackay

Police have charged a man in relation to property offences in Mackay on Thursday 20 August.

Just before 8pm police were called to reports a man had allegedly unlawfully entered a residence on Shakespeare Street where he was disturbed by the occupant and fled. It is alleged the man has then entered another residence in the same street where he stole the keys to a Ford Ranger and left in the vehicle.

About 8.30pm police located the Ford abandoned and crashed in a ditch on the corner of Norris Street and James Street.

A short time later police received reports the man was allegedly in a residence at James Street where he was preventing the occupant from leaving the house.

The police dog unit located the man outside the property shortly before 9pm and took him into custody.

He was transported to Mackay Base Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has been charged with two counts of entering a dwelling with intent and one count each of enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, deprivation of liberty, and trespass.

He is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court 21 August.
