Break and enter charges, Wulguru

Townsville police have charged a man with multiple offences following an incident in Wulguru in the early hours of Thursday morning.

At 12.20am yesterday, a man allegedly broke into a restaurant at a caravan park in Wulguru and stole cash and a vehicle.

Around 12am this morning, police intercepted a man in an alleged stolen vehicle on Bundock Street, West End and successfully deployed a tyre deflation device.

The car was located abandoned in Martinez Avenue a short time later. The driver had fled.

Officers from RAP (Rapid Action Patrol Group) and the dog squad tracked the man, and he was located on Woolcock Street hiding in bushes and arrested without incident.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with burglary, evading police, possessing stolen property, stealing, two counts of unlawful use of a vehicle and five counts of break and enter.

He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today (January 8).
