Break And Enters, Cassowary Coast

Detectives from the Tully Criminal Investigation Branch have charged five people following multiple break and enters last month.

Police allege overnight on June 12, a 14-year-old Tully girl, and a 15-year-old Birkalla girl entered a Curtis Street property and stole security cameras.

On June 25, three teenagers, including the 14 and 15-year-old girls allegedly broke into a Butler Street hotel.

A 14-year-old Bilyana boy and the two girls were dealt with under provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

It will be alleged on June 21, a 16-year-old Tully Heads boy broke into a McQuillen Street home.

He was charged with one count of enter and commit indictable offence and is due to appear in the Tully Childrens Court on August 8.

On June 18, a 28-year-old Tully man allegedly entered a Butler Street hotel and stole food items.

He was charged with one count of stealing and is due to appear in the Tully Magistrates Court on July 17.

Officer in Charge of the Tully Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Sergeant Stu Jones said police are continuing to disrupt, deter and prevent property offending in the area.

"We are continuing to target property offenders through high-visibility and covert operations, to ensure the community is, and feels safe," Detective Sergeant Jones said.

"We urge the public to ensure they take steps to secure their properties, including locking doors and windows, installing security cameras and reporting suspicious behaviour to police."
