Breaker arrested at Woodville Park

A man has been arrested by police after reports of a break-in and an attempted break-in at Woodville Park overnight.

About 9pm on Sunday 29 October, a woman saw an unknown man looking through her back door in Harvey Street East, Woodville Park. She disturbed him and he ran off. There was no entry gained.

Police searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

Then about 11pm, police received a second call from a woman also in Harvey Street East, reporting that she had just chased an intruder out of her house. The suspect allegedly stole jewellery and other valuables before jumping over the neighbour's fence.

Police attended and, with the assistance of Police Dog Edge and PolAIr, quickly located the suspect in the rear yard of a house in Belmore Terrace.

It will be alleged he was in possession of items stolen from the second home.

The 34-year-old Mount Barker man was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and unlawful possession.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

Police would also like to hear from anyone in the area who may have also been a victim of a break-in and ask residents to check any CCTV for any footage that may assist the investigation.
