Whether it be a road closure or power outage, storm, fire or flood – when things go wrong no one wants to be bamboozled by a dozen different websites and no idea where to start says Eurobodalla's local emergency management officer.
Angus Barnes says Council's new Emergency Dashboard puts local warnings, hazards, road alerts, useful resources and emergency contacts at one online location, helping residents and visitors find reliable information quickly.
"During an emergency, people need clear information from the agency responsible for managing the situation. This dashboard gathers those trusted sources in one place, with information focusing on Eurobodalla," Mr Barnes says.
Just as important says Mr Barnes is the wealth of practical information to help individuals and groups prepare for emergency, and access recovery support afterward.
"Save it to your favourites now so you'll know where to go if an emergency hits but also to use as a tool before and after. It's right there on the Council website homepage."
The dashboard includes emergency news and weather warnings, current hazards and road information, beach safety advice, emergency contacts and links to services including NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW State Emergency Service and Fire and Rescue NSW.
Mr Barnes says the dashboard does not replace any warnings or directions from lead agencies in times of emergency.
"Always follow the advice of emergency services and call Triple Zero for life-threatening situations. The dashboard is your reliable local starting point for everything else. Emergencies can be very stressful, but finding the right information shouldn't be," he says.
